December 19, 2008 – Meeting little people and big horses

Rory didn't know what to make of the tiny human
My mum brought my 7 yr old niece out to see the boys last weekend. I took Rory out of the field so the mares and TOF couldn't crowd my niece and mum. Rory wasn't sure what to make of the little human-like creature (she's smaller than he is). He was very cautious and leaned backwards when she first put her hand out. When she didn't come closer he stretched his neck and sniffed at her. I put little bits of carrot on her glove and let her feed him. He was okay with that and relaxed until she came round to his shoulder to feel how thick his coat is. He half jumped and tried to scoot away from her, but stopped when I blocked him. After a pat or two he turned his head round to check her out again and decided she was okay. It was cute.
But then he found she had carrots for him
Last night I was putting the brat out as Rory was being brought in. We stopped and let them say hello. Bratboy was very interested in Rory and got a little close when sniffing him. Rory stood for about half a minute before scooting away and baby mouthing.
